the 3 schools i'm looking at right now are
Earlham College, Indiana
Cornell College, Iowa
Colorado College, Colorado

I have a 3.69 GPA at a very tough high school in Appleton, Wisconsin.
I've taken over 10-15 honors classes, and 3 AP's so far, and i'm signed for 3 more in my senior year. (Chem, Spanish, English)

My ACT is a 26, and I'm taking it again in June.
I scored very highly on the PSAT math (720-780), but not as well in the other sections.
My grades show I'm much better at science and math.
I've played Volleyball for 3 years (last year was captain and starter on state team)
Basketball for 2 years
Baseball for 3 years (starter as junior)
Student Council 2 years
NHS 2 years
Volunteered w/ special olympics
Volunteer for many outdoor clean ups and things like that(i like outdoors things)

what are my chances of getting into any of those 3 schools

Class Rank? Race? First Generation?

I wish I could do the percentages like others can. (It's a gift I just don't have) However, I know that for a place like Cornell you really need to improve on that ACT score. Shoot for atleast a solid 30. I'm in the same boat w/ it, actually. I only got a 27 the first time, but hopefully June will produce better results. Best of luck to you!

Cornell College, Iowa != Cornell University, New York.

A 30 for Cornell College?, The average there is a 25-26.
I'm Caucasian, Both parents attended University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. My brother attended U of Wisconsin, then Hampshire College, and now back to Wisconsin. Sister attends Marquette University. I am in the top 25-30% at a very tough high school...probly like 100-400

yeah... that person definately was thinking Cornell U... I can't really help you with the chances... but thats a nice selection of schools! Good job picking out some great schools that don't have as much national name recognition as others!

Haha, oops. I suppose I skimmed a little too quickly. I was definitely thinking Cornell U.

For me, I think Cornell and Earlham would be a great fit academically, and also for size and location. I'm from Wisconsin, and these schools are both in the midwest and are of about 1000-1500 studetns. Cornell's average ACT is between 23-29 and the GPA is 3.54, and Earlham as VERY similar stats

well... sounds like you have much better answers to your own questions than we do... not sure you need our help! ;-)

That's true, I do know quite a bit about each school, I was just looking for some kids who were accepted to these schools, and how they did in HS

that sounds good...

as far as colorado college -- it would be a reach with your current stats --they are getting much more selective.

it is a great college -- we live a block from campus and my son has taken classes there and works on campus.

check out this link -- http://www.coloradocollege.edu/Bulletin/dec2005/news1.asp

also check out the common data set to see where the current admitted class stood as far as rank, ACT, etc.

thanks hsmomstef, i saw colorado as a reach, but saw it as a really good match for me, i came across cornell because of the same type of academic calendar. Over the past few months, I have come to think that cornell is actually a better school for me, but I am still considering Colorado and Earlham

does my playing baseball and my wanting to play baseball in college have any affect on my admission. Not to be errogant or anything, but I start as a junior on Varsity. Would this have any affect on a school whose team is a D3 program

sports suprisingly do play a factor, but if you plan on playing, you better contact the coaches at the schools and have them know your name and your performance, maybe come watch you. if they're not interested, you can't juss put sports on your app and hope they know how good you are. but, you do have a lot of extracurriculars, so in my opinion, you got a good chance there buddy...juss for act, you can improve, though i wouldn't say you won't get in if you don't =) gluck with college!

You'll get into Cornell College. I was accepted last year with a pretty sizable scholarship and I had a 3.3 GPA and a 28 ACT. The campus is really nice, but Mount Vernon is in the middle of nowhere.

Have you checked out Coe College, in Cedar Rapids? It's a lot like Cornell, but without the block-schedule and in a much more urban area.

i did look at coe college, liked it, and am considering it, but i really like the block plan

you're in at earlam i would think

the only thing at earlham i am worried about is the kids. I hear they are VERY liberal, but I won't take that to heart until I see it. I am pretty liberal, so i don' tthink it'll be too much of a problem
