Do you think I can get into Baylor University?

It's the summer of my Junior year and I'm going to being a senior :) Class of 12 !

I have been looking at Baylor and it seems like a dream school! I know it's expensive but I want the best. I seriously research all of the crap for it & I plan on visiting it July 9th.

I am Asian Pacific Islander (Just saying for diversity sake)

Well I took my SAT last May and I got a 1530. Average I know.
I'm planning on taking it again tomorrow on June 4th and the beginning of my Senior Year before November applications are due.

So far in high school I have:
-A 3.6 Weighted and I think 3.2 Unweighted GPA my Freshman/Sophomore years.
I maintained a 3.85 GPA my Junior Year so I know it will go up.
-Ranked 110/610 people (Top 18%) of my class
-Taken All Pre-AP Classes and 2 AP Courses my Junior Year of High School, but I don't think I will take any Senior Year. (Taking Dual Credit & Off Campus)
-Member of Student Council Freshman & Sophomore year
-Member of Christian Fellowship in school
-Member of Christians in Action
-8 Years of being in Band (5th-12th grade)
-Member of my Neighborhood Swim Team from 6-15 years old
-Member of my Youth Group at Church
-Volunteer at a retirement home on Saturdays
-I am Membership Director of a Volunteer Organization
-I got accepted into a Summer Volunteer Internship at a Hospital
-I believe I will have around 300-400+ Hours of Volunteering at the end of this summer

My Senior Year I plan on taking:

1st: Dual Credit English
2nd: Dual Credit Government/Economics
3rd: AVID IIII
4th: Pre-AP Ceramics/Sculpture
5th: Marching Band III
6th: Honor Anatomy
7th: Off Campus / maybe AP Psychology?

I only decided Off Campus for 7th because I plan on taking Marching Band and trying out for Cross Country during the fall season. (My old High school in 9th/10th grade never had sports)

So, do you believe I have a good chance? I know, the GPA & SAT are killing me :/

I don’t think your gpa will be a problem but definitely try to get up that sat score and you will have a good chance at Baylor.

Chances are slim. Baylor is a high standard school. I don’t think Baylor is a match school, unfortunately.

Baylor isn’t THAT difficult to get into. BTW I’m just basing this off of my friend getting in. His GPA is 3.6 or below(weighted) because he’s not in NHS (requirement is 3.7). Also he’s not that involved at school, although he does hold an officer position in one club. Also he’s Asian if that makes a difference. Not sure what he got on the SAT, but I’m sure it wasn’t spectacular. But yeah, in the end he decided to go to Texas Tech because it was cheaper.

Hey FreshPakiPrince, are you a Paki? :D

Thank you guys.
I just took my June SAT. I hope I did a lot better.

But yes, if you had any friends accepted into Baylor, What was their SAT & GPA?
Just wondering.

Well Laura I just checked my schools naviance, we don’t have many people apply to Baylor over the past few years but the average gpa was a 3.5w and a 1715 SAT. So get your sat up by 200 points and you should be fine.

Thank you! Now I have an idea and a goal to meet :)

Can you tell me anything about Waco and Baylor Life? I’m planning on visiting it on July 9th.

My friends that have visited it say its a beautiful campus.

Campus is beautiful and some amazing new buildings/facilities. Unfortunately, the town of Waco was deal breaker for my accepted student :frowning: Waco is, well, not much of a town…My student is also not very religious, and it IS a very religious school and you MUST take weekly chapel/bible study as well as religious classes. I think if you get your grades up to a 3.7 or 3.8 cumulative, and raise your SAT scores by 150 points you have a good shot of acceptance at Baylor.

Raise your SAT score a bit to at least a 1800. Then you’re a shoo in
