do you think i can get into ucsd?

gpa weighted 4.0
sat 1 1930 (i think i can raise to 2150+)
sat II math/bio 800/740 (im going to take chinese and retake bio for hopefully 800/800/800)

which sounds ok but i kidna dont have ANY EC at all except for like 80 hours of volunteering at a place for autistic kids (i dont have 80 yet but i will by the time college apps are due)
oh and i was on mathcounts for 7th and 8th grade-__- (does that even count?)

sophomore classes
Chemistory Honors=A/A
Algebra2/trig =A/A
Chinese 1 =A/B
Art 1=B/B
World Lit=A/A
World Hisotry=A/A

Junior Classes
Biology Ap=A/A
Chinese 4 H=A/A
APUSH=B/B
American Lit Honors=B/C
Precalculs Honors=A/A

and also i only have 2 years of language, but i cant take another year becuase my school doesnt offer it and if i take it at a community college id also have to show my W from the CC

with the point system that somebody posted for ucsd i can get above 7500, but will the fact that i have no ec and only 2 years of language hurt alot?

also my freshmen grades were a 2.0 average, will that hurt alot too?

Your stats look pretty good for UCSD. That 2.0 freshman year won't hurt you one bit. You might want to raise the SAT to about 2000, but even a 1950 + with your grades should be OK. HOWEVER....and this is a BIG however, I think, and I may be wrong, that 3 consecutive years of a language is am absolute requirement for all of the UC's. TAKE ANOTHER YEAR!! Besides that I think your a match.

i took chiense 1 and i skipped to chinese 4, but if i take chiense 5 at a community college, they will see the withdrawal i had from 3 years ago (i hella slacked off and got a 45% in the class but the teacher gave me a withdrawal)
woudlnt the withdrawal be realy bad?

it says on the uc site that 2 years is minimum, 3 years preferred

how much do they prefer it by?

they prefer three years, but two years wont hurt you...
btw your a definitely a match

as long as it's not required i wouldn't be worried about it.

Solid chance at UCSD. I'd say w/ a 2150+ you are a shoo-in, esp. b/c your SAT II scores are so good.

if you get a 2150 and an 800 in two SAT2's, plus most of the a-g courses...you'll have about a little less than 7500....so you might need some EC's/leadership/community service over the summer
plus 7500 was last year's cutoff this could increase by maybe 50 points, so just try to do your best with your EC's

Wait let me get this straight...2.0 in your freshman year, then about a 3.7 in your sophmore year? Holy crap. Also, I hope you're not a chinese taking the SATII Chinese (unless you're really bored and already plan on taking 3/4 other SATII's).

You're lucky UC schools don't care about freshman year grades.

Yes, if you're chinese, it will really hurt. The most important factors however, are your UC GPA, class rank and SATs. We can't give you a clue without them. You need to be at least top 10%, have a 4.0 plus GPA and a 2000 for a fair chance at UCSD.

but my school doenst have class ranking
my uc gpa is only a 4.0
is being chiense really taht disadvantageous?

also, if i take 4 years of science and 4 years of math, does that count as going over the minimum a-g courses for ucsd?

class rank doesn't really matter for UC...officially. But it is still important that you do well compared to your peers.

4.0 UC GPA isn't great but it's OK...won't hurt you too badly.

You misunderstood what zagat said. He means it is disadvantageous to take the Chinese SAT II when you are Chinese. It reflects badly since it should be so easy for you to get a high score. Being Chinese in itself will not hurt you.

Yes, 4 years of science and math is over the minimum courses.

so i should not take sat 2 chiense then?

-take the SAT chinese if you want, but make sure to take math2c and bio or chem first
-4.0 UC gpa wont hurt you at all, iono what stambliark41 is talking about
just improve you EC's a little bit and also improve you SAT1 to 2150 and you'll be fine
-do u live in cali??

yes i live in cali
