Do you think I could get in these colleges, or others?

I am currently going into my junior year and exploring my options for college.

My current GPA (I think weighted, I don't know, it just said on transcript) is 3.813. I have so far taken the following honors/AP classes in 2 years.

Honors World Geography

Honors 9th Lit

Pre-IB Spanish 2 (Don't know if honors, IB is International Baccalaureate)

Honors Biology

Honors 10th lit

AP US History

Honors Chemistry

AP Statistics

AP Chemistry

Junior year, I am planning on taking Honors Amer. Lit, AP Gov, AP Micro Econ.
Senior year, I plan on taking AP Lit, AP Calc, and AP World Hist.

That would be 8 AP classes and 6-8 Honors. I will have taken 6 math classes (2 AP) as well because of middle school.

Now, I am not excellent with extracurriculars. The only extra-curricular I can really name is Varsity Tennis Team and MVP for 2 years. That takes up a lot of time, but Junior year, I plan on participating in a few clubs that I can find time for. EDIT. I just started a job at Chick-Fil-A, I totally forgot about that as an extra-curricular.

Also, a little about me, I skipped 2nd grade (Don't know if that matters at all to colleges) so I am a year young for my grade (11th grade, Just turned 15 in May).

I live in Georgia, and was hoping to go to colleges like Georgia or Georgia Tech. Do you think with a good SAT I could get in with what I have now (if I continue similar to how I have). I may go to a smaller college such as Kennesaw State if it costs too much money and then transfer to Georgia/GT.

Also, I have a lot of interest in History/Govt and Math. What would be a good career path for those interested in those subjects. Money doesn't matter much, as I want to enjoy my job, but I would really like to make at least 60k per year and be able to save up and not live paycheck to paycheck

Anyways, I know a lot about colleges around the US. What kind of colleges could I get into in any state? I just want to know my options because I have heard varied opinions and want to know more.

Thanks a lot for taking your time reading this,
Tyler

Your classes seem decent, but colleges also look at how difficult your course load is compared to the classes offered at your school, so keep that in mind. (Your AP/IB scores also play a part when it comes to college admissions)

Also, I think it’s a great idea to expand on your extracurriculars; colleges like to see that you have around 2 or 3 EC’s that you’re really passionate about. If you’re really good at tennis, then it could also give you a boost in the college admissions process.

As far as colleges go, do you know what kind of school you’d like to go to? (Large/small, public/private, Liberal Arts College/Research Universities) Your choices could also differ depending on what you’d like to study. Generally, I’d say UNC at Chapel Hill, UVA, and Emory are pretty excellent schools for you to look at.

And as to the grade skipping…Colleges don’t really care, unfortunately :frowning: I skipped a grade as well, but from everything that I’ve read, unless you can turn your grade-skipping into a strong essay, colleges don’t really look at that.

Hope this helps! Good luck in junior year and kudos for starting the college search so early :)

Thanks for your response :)

I did add that I do have a job at Chick-fil-A, so that is 2 good extracurriculars.

I also tend to average a high B-low A in most AP classes and a 2-4 on AP tests

“I think weighted, I don’t know, it just said on transcript”

Try calculating your GPA with a 4.0 for an A and a 3.0 for a B (C=2.0 and D=1.0) then see what you have for an UW GPA.

Oh ok, thanks for that.

I just calculated my Unweighted GPA, and it’s exactly 3.5

Good thing is that both will raise this year, because with my schedule, I see me having 1-2 B’s at the most.
