DO YOU THINK I COULD GET INTO CORNELL AEM?

Hey, I am a graduating High School Senior from New York, and I am planning on reapplying to colleges. I got a 1480 superscore on my SATs(750 Math, 730 C/R) and a 2180 out of 2400, and I have a 96.1 GPA(My school doesn't do the standard GPA). I got rejected from several schools that I felt were reaches, but I also got rejected from Cornell ILR, which I was surprised about. I was already planning on taking a gap year, so I decided it would be a good idea to reapply ED and(if I don't get in ED) RD to schools I was rejected from. I realized after being rejected from ILR that it might not be for me, and then I heard about AEM and it sounds amazing for me, because I am interested in economics and business which at the time I thought ILR mightbe good for, but now I might be reconsidering this. What scared me before and what scares me now is the admissions rates at AEM because they are ridiculously low. My principal spoke to the admissions director at ILR and said that I wasn't accepted because my supplement didn't reflect enough of an interest/didn't relate to the school enough. With a better essay, and a new year, does anyone think I have a chance of getting into AEM?

@sr1023 I did AEM ED this year. I had a 1460/2190 and an unweighted 96.33 GPA. So we’re essentially the same applicant from that standpoint. I wrote my essays over the course of 2 months and focused on fit and my unique situation. I was deferred, then rejected. However, I did get a guaranteed transfer for next year if I were to maintain a 3.5 GPA at my freshman college. It’d ridiculously hard and will only likely get harder.

It’s definitely a risk and I don’t know if it’s worth the ED. If you’re curious about any more of my stats/application, check my post history. Message me if you have any more questions. Hope this helped

Thanks for the answer, I had a feeling it was a little too risky, what do you think about my chances at Cornell PAM?

Strengths: Leadership, Community Service, Rank, Testing
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: Giving back to community.
Weaknesses: Unweighted GPA, Major Selection (8% AR for AEM Major)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I was rejected because of my major selection, AEM, because it has an acceptance rate of only 8%. Also my unweighted GPA drastically hurt my application.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:Accepted- UF Honors, College of William and Mary, Fordham, FSU, USF. Waitlisted-UVa. Rejected- Cornell, UPenn, Dartmouth
Your “Big Red” factor - the most unique thing in your application: Community Service- Working with migrant workers.

I think im just going to apply as a transfer to Cornell PAM after a year, any thoughts on my chances?

Much higher acceptance rate! Give it a shot!

Thanks!
