I have a 3.5 GPA and I am 134th in my class out of about 300 (top half). I have only taken the SATs once back in January. I scored a 1500 on the SATs - 570 in Critical reading, 440 in math and 490 in writing. I know that the math part is very low but Ive only taken algebra I and half a years worth of geometry so far. Hopefully next time will be higher.

Am I shooting too high? I looked at the school on the college board website and it seams like I could get in but I just wanted a second opinion. I know there is no real way to tell if I would be accepted, but do you think there could be a chance?

Temple University? Never heard of it... You're probably in.

Do me a favor, next time don't comment about a school you've never heard of, especially mine. It's the 28th largest school in the country. You should've heard of it.

OP, your GPA is good, and will probably make up for your low SAT-M score. TU is getting more and more selective each year, and a 1010 would be at the bottom of the class, but I think you have a good chance. I'd try to up your SAT-M 100 points, though.

Hm- come to think of it, I have heard of it. It's the school that constantly spammed my inbox during Christmas break! Does the "Unsubscribe" button ever work?!

Well, that's the beauty of opinion. Besides, there's not much information to make an informed answer. Hence, I will stay on the Positivism bandwagon.

Temple is a really huge school with a lot of applications. I'm not saying you won't get in; however, when sifting through such a pile of applications, I imagine that test scores and GPA (you know, the objective stuff) probably plays a big part. You could certainly get in, but Temple isn't a tiny liberal arts school with a 100% holistic process. I also agree with the statement that Temple is getting more and more competitive.

I think you have a really good shot at Temple…and @zenba- there’s no need to be unnecessarily rude. just because you havent heard of them doesnt mean that they aren’t a good school…a lot of their undergraduates actually end up at top tier schools like Harvard, Yale, etc for grad school. Soo…play nice please
That said, CSorkine- your stats seem to be right in the avg for Temple. Write good essays, get some good recommendations, and emphasize an EC that you are really passionate about, and I’d say you’re in…GL!
