do you think I have a chance!?....I WILL CHANCE BACK!!

please let me know if you think I have a chance as a sophomore in college and I WILL DEF CHANCE BACK!

I am a sophomore at Emory University and want to transfer out...

college:
I have a GPA of 3.976 in college
I am an Econ Major and Pre-med
I am the President of a prestigious organization
I volunteered in a community outreach program at a hospital in a developing country
I have outstanding letters of recommendation
I shadowed a neurologist/neurosurgeon/cardiologist this past summer
I am an Eagle scout
I have been on the Deans list 3 semesters in a row

high school: (I don't know if this matters)
I got a 30 on my ACTs
I took 18 AP tests...received a 4 or 5 on eight of them

colleges I am trying to get into:

Yale
brown
duke
columbia
stanford
brown
rice
UPenn
UC berkley

Your high school transcript is a critical part of your application as a prospective sophomore transfer. Your ACT score is weak, but your college GPA and APs are very impressive. What was your GPA in high school?

Whats your reason for transferring out. Emory is a fine school!

wayward_trojan, I think OP is a junior level transfer.

My GPA in high school I believe was a 3.9 unweighted and a 5.152 weighted…I don’t think that there is a portion for me to send my high school grades in the transfer area…my weakest point is my standardized scores…how do you think they will evaluate my app?

good chance/med chance/bad chance/no chance…appreciate it

Whoops! Mea culpa. They will request your high school transcripts, but they will be of little consequence.

Your chances are essentially as good as they can be. Make sure you get solid recommendations and work hard on your essays/soft factors (e.g., ECs). Stanford/Yale accept fewer than 5% of applicants, so it’s a veritable crapshoot at either; as for the others, you have excellent chances.

I’m happy to help you with essays etc. over break if you’d like, as I successfully transferred from USC to Penn (and was admitted to Cornell and Dartmouth as well).

oh thanks for the heads up

yeah I’m finishing up my personal statement right now…ill probably need more help with the short essay questions and such since i’ve been working on the personal statement for 2 months…i sincerely appreciate all the help though

just one question…why did you want to transfer out?

i cannot speak for the ivy schools, but i think you are in pretty good standing for rice and ucla as an oos applicant and possibly berkeley. 18 APs? Damn, when’d you have the time to study for all of them?

Also, I am aiming for many of the same schools as you. Mind if I PM you my chances? I’m thinking of applying to emory as a match transfer.

I am not sure what PM means but i think it would be ok haha…sorry not too familiar with the CC lingo just yet…

PM=private message and thanks
