Do you think I have a chance to get an A in this class? I have 3.5 months of school left?

This is high school btw.

I have a 78% in this class because I got a 64% on a unit exam yesterday. So far, there are only 6 assignments in the grade weight. There are 5 quizzes, which I got a 100% in all of them. In addition to that, there’s a 1 exam, which I got a 64% on. The teacher only puts quizzes and tests in, so obviously each and every assignment is significant to my grade weight since theyre summative grades.

Do you think I have a chance to get an A in this class? I’ve never received a D in my life, so I’m scared as hell right now. What’s the lowest my grade can be in this class if I receive a 100% on every quiz and a low A on every test from now on? How about a B on every test?

How many tests and assignments are there total?

Edit: And how much is each worth? You’re asking us to do a math problem with no information. “I have five quizzes and one exam” means nothing – each quiz or exam could be five points, or it could be ten points, or it could be a hundred points, and all of that will determine how your score on the assignment affects your grade.

for quizzes, I have 30/30 points so far. For tests, I have 14/22 points so far. @bodangles I have about 4 unit tests coming up for the school year (about 25 questions each), and about 20 quizzes left (about 120 points worth in total) I’m guranteed a 100% on the quizzes since they’re completion grades… Also, the final exam, which is probably 30 questions plus an essay that would be worth 15 points.

Assumptions:

  • each quiz is worth 6 points
  • each test is worth 22 points
  • final is worth 40 points (you didn’t say so I just picked a number that made a nice even total number of points)

( 150 + (14 + 4(20)) + 36 ) / 300 = 0.93 = 93% if lowest possible A on tests and final (91% for tests, 90% for final)

( 150 + (14 + 4(18)) + 32 ) / 300 = 0.89 = 89% if lowest possible B on tests and final (82% for tests, 80% for final)

Will not be completely accurate if things are worth different numbers of points, especially the final. But basically add up the points you earned and divide by the total possible points for your grade in decimals, and multiply by 100% for your grade in percent.

Alright, thanks a lot. @bodangles
