Really beautiful letter of rec from my cousin who is a professor at Dartmouth.

Also really genuine, stellar rec from my aunt who is an alum and major benefactress of Tufts.

Do you think I have a chance at these schools?

bump? please, I would really appreciate some input!

Your SAT is slightly low for some of those unis (not considering average only, but also how many with your score get in) - but your GPA is great, and some of your ECs are amazing (show leadership and commitment).

Applying to:
brown low/mid reach
vanderbilt - low reach
dartmouth - low/mid reach
duke - mid reach
johns hopkins - low/mid reach
idk the other!

I don’t know much, but you’ve got near perfect stats so you should be fine, especially amherst, I’m sure you will get in there! And I think being first generation helps a lot, or so I have heard!

in at vandy, congrats you’re a commodore!! :)

I think you have a strong chance at all but the 2 ivies, Duke and Amherst. For those I think rank and below median scores hurts. BU should be a sure thing.

Great stats.

brown - low reach
vanderbilt - low reach
dartmouth - low reach
emory - high match
duke - low reach
johns hopkins - low reach
BU - match
BC - match

Amherst is quite a bit more selective than Duke and JHU, so take the above advice with caution.

I’m guessing tennuggler must be from NC. Duke more selective than dartmouth and Amherst and on par with Brown?.

Brown - low reach
Vanderbilt - match
Dartmouth - reach
Emory - high match
Duke - low reach
Johns hopkins-
BU- match probably
BC- match
Tufts- high match
Amherst- reach

With a little luck you will get into all of them. Good luck and thanks for the chance.

Honestly from my perspective you have a reasonable shot at getting into all of these schools. Your grades and EC’s are all on point. The only thing you’ll need is a little luck since this schools have a very low acceptance rate but you’ll be fine.
Good luck !

brown: Best of luck-it’s tough for anyone but you look good
vanderbilt: I’d say in
dartmouth: low reach
emory: low reach
duke: low reach
johns hopkins: low reach
BU: In
BC: In
tufts: low reach
amherst: reach

First generation will help!

duke - reach but decent chance
johns hopkins - low reach
BU - in
BC - in
tufts - good chance
amherst - good chance

i think the tv and black belt are really awesome and unique things about you that will definitely stand out on your apps. and by the way- the first generation thing DOES matter, it can really help you out when they’re comparing applications that they’ve narrowed down to.

YOu are getting some incorrect advice here, especially regarding Amherst. It is a very big reach.

I’ve noticed… your take on the situation then?

I’m sad to say that smart girls with good grades and good but not great SATs from the Northeast are not in short supply. They are an over-represented majority. Sorry.
I think you will get in to Vandy, Emory, and BC. I’m sure you’ll get in to BU. (But you are already in at Brandeis, so…) Tufts is weird- IDK.
Duke, JHU, doubtful. Brown, Dartmouth and Amherst, even more doubtful.

Agreed.

brown (i was deferred ED)- Rejected
vanderbilt (my second choice)- Low Reach
dartmouth- Reach
emory- Low Reach/High Match…I think this may be your best shot
duke- Reach
johns hopkins- Low Reach/Reach
BU- Safety
BC-Match
tufts- Match
amherst- High Reach (most likely rejection)
