I am currently a high school senior at a public high school in Illinois. I am ranked 57 out of 655 (upper 10%) and my unweighted GPA is 3.74. However, my ACT is on the low side at a 25. I have also taken no honors or AP classes which can also hurt my chances. Do you think I have a change if I applied for DGS?

I think you have a shot at DGS because of your gpa. I had a friend who got admitted with similar act and rank to yours. I have a problem opposite of yours however. I have a 29 act with only a 22% ranking…but with a lot of honors. I think youll get in

Don’t apply to DGS directly. You are automatically considered for DGS, if you don’t get into your program of choice. Apply to the program you desire, and retake the ACT after studying some Kaplans ACT prep books. There is no penalty to being considered for DGS, if you get turned down for your requested program, and if you do end up getting accepted to that program, you’re set. DGS will always be there otherwise. The bottom line is to apply. If you don’t, you’ll never know.

Do you have any EC?

I participated in Relay for Life sophomore year, I have been in a community service club for the past two years, and I work in my school’s bookstore,
