I'm a freshman in college currently. I go to a school with about 4,500 undergrads, it's ranked top 30 nationally in my field (engineering), and I'm going here for free because my mom works here. As great as all that may sound, secretly I really hate it. I'm having a hard time making friends and I find that I just don't fit into the social scene. I'm not sure why, but I just often feel like I don't matter because I don't feel like I fit in here. I've only been here for about a month, but lately I've been highly considering transferring. I've been eyeing up schools like Florida State and Georgia Tech. I got into Georgia Tech during my senior year of high school, but couldn't go because of money issues. I feel like a bigger school would help me a lot with the social issues. I'm also a musician and the band/music program has affected my decisions a lot and it's partially why I've been considering Florida State. The thing about FSU is that it is a significantly worse school than I am currently at and it would cost more to attend. I'm just not sure if I'm doing something wrong at my current school or if transferring is a viable option. Can someone please help?
