I am great with pharmaceutical knowledge. I had a rough last 2 years of high school due to having to work a lot and being forced to do work release/i had extenuating circumstances. I am a very smart kid as of now i have a 3.1ish gpa, and a terrible attendance rate. I got cancer my sophomore year and chemo really effected me a lot. I am in remission but i am scared that no pharmacy school will except me. I am 18 have management experience at work at have my tech certification through a local pharmacy. Last year i participated in a state pharmaceutical knowledge test and placed 4th in state. I believe i can make it to nationals this year. While i had cancer i stayed in school and focused on pharmacy as much as i could. Due to the chemo i wasn’t exactly at school all the time, the school will send letters explaining my circumstances about my attendance. I only got a 21 accumulative on my act. I think that is what will hold me back the most. Thoughts? I am still inspired and i really want to help people. This means more to me than i can explain. Please, any thoughts on what school or how to convince a school to let me in their program would be greatly appreciated and reassuring.
You would not apply to pharmacy school yet. You would work on the pharmacy prerequisites.
Look at some pharmacy schools in your state and see what courses they require for admission.
Shadow a pharmacist, or try and get a tech job at a pharmacy.
Go to an affordable college and take your science classes and other prerequisites and work hard for the next few years.
Then take the PCAT and apply to pharmacy schools. You will be aiming for a 3.5 GPA. And need C or better in your math and science courses.
