Do you think I'll be able to get into Cornell?

I really would like to get into the College of Arts and Science at Cornell University. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any useful information. Either how to better my transcript or whether or not you think I can get in. Anything is helpful and appreciated.

I don't play a sport but I have over 400 hours of community service.
I don't know my exact GPA, but I think it's somewhere around a 3.9 unweighted and a 4.8 weighted.
I got a 1950 the first time I took the SAT and a 2230 the second time. Do they rearrange it so they get the top scores from each?
On the ACT, I got a 31.
I'm in the top 10% in my class, but I'm not sure exactly where I fall.
I'm also from a small town, will that work against me?
I'd be the first in my family to go to college and I'm considered "economically disadvantaged".

Do you know how hard it is to get into the Arts and Science Program? If you can think of anything else I might have missed that would make the decision easier just ask.
Thank you.

Your stats give you a fair chance at Cornell; you have similar qualifications to the greatest part of the pool. May I ask whether you’ve taken any SAT Subject Test?

@Sandro, hope he has, they are required for Arts and Sciences at Cornell!

Yes.

Not exactly, but if your school isn’t considered prestigious or rigorous, it gives your rank/gpa a little less weight, though it sounds like your school is reasonably rigorous.

I believe Cornell is need blind? So the economically disadvantaged won’t hurt you. Being first generation in college is a nice plus.

You have a pretty good chance. There are many qualified applicants, but you are definitely one of them. Good luck!

SAT Subject Test:
Math - 750
Biology - 710

My school, Santa Fe High School in Alachua, Fl., was said to be ranked in the top 3% of high schools. I don’t know how much truth that holds. It’s pretty much a redneck town right outside of Gainesville, Fl., where the University of Florida is.

Your Subject Tests are fine  As Pancaked stated, you have the same chances as most well-qualified applicants. Good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement!

I think you have a decent chance of getting in. Maybe do some more community service, and run for some kind of officer in some clubs, and you’ll be good to go!
