Do You Think Ill Get Accepted To This University?

Im a senior in high school and i have a 1.8 gpa. I have mostly good grades in all subject areas but my grades in Social Studies brought down my gpa because im not that good in social studies. I applied for a university and they said they have no minimum GPA or SAT score required. I sent in a decent essay with a letter of recommendation and also my most recent report card which has 2 B's and 2 C's. Do you think ill get in?

I think having a 1.8 GPA is a big toss up, but if you are making noticeable improvement then colleges will take notice. If you have time, consider retaking some of the social studies classes you didn’t do well in, and in the mean time bring up the grades in your other classes. Make sure you mail in mid-year grades as well as keep your grades in the A’s and B’s range. Colleges look well on improvement and if they see you making a drastic effort they may let you in, but since your gpa is so low it could really mess up your chances. Hopefully you have an excellent extra curricular list, or some job experience. Colleges look upon both of those as favorable! Good luck ~

Vague. What school? What was your SAT/ACT?

Harvard has no official “require score” by the way.

Anyway, with that GPA, you should probably be looking into community college to see if a 4 year college is something that you’d want to commit to.

at the absolute mini. public schools req. 2.0 but don’t get too sad my uncle had a 1.5 gpa in hs then he went to vietnam. after he came back he went to a cc then to ucsd and then he went to dental school then he went to do oral surgery/ md program. now he is a successful oral surgeon. you have hope high school does not mean much it is what you do after it.

Wow a 1.8?

Well if you’re applying to colleges such as Harvard, Yale, or Princeton your chances are
pretty slim but don’t be discouraged.

It would be nice to know what college you are applying to, and I would recommend going to a Community college in either New York or California because they are readily available and have great joint programs with State Universities.

I know there isn’t a minimum for GPA, but I’m pretty sure there’s a statistic out there that says nobody under 2.5 GPA gets into any of these places. If a person had a 4.0 GPA weighted, his/her chances would still be “pretty slim” for all of these universities.
