Hi everyone, I was wondering by chances of getting into Tulane. I am really interested in the school and I can't wait to visit! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

sorry for the repost - I thought that this would be a more appropriate forum. Thanks for reading!

Rbk222: I think your credentials give you an decent chance of getting in. My son is an entering freshman at Tulane, and his GPA is slightly lower than yours (but he has a 32 ACT), and he comes from a school without class ranks like yours. I say go for it!

Obviously no one can say you have a 75% chance, or 50% chance, or 25% chance. Basically your test score and GPA put you pretty much at Tulane’s midpoint, actually just a little below. But your strong set of AP courses pushes that up, and your EC’s look fine, to me anyway. So if Tulane is a school you would place in your top 3, then apply SCEA (preferably) or EA, do a good job on the “Why Tulane” statement on the application, and try and either visit the school or attend one of the Tulane sessions in your area. That’s about all you can do to maximize your chances.

Congratulations on a good high school career so far! Yes, you are qualified for Tulane, but that does not necessarily mean that you will gain admission. See if you can manage to get into more AP courses next year, beef up your community service (not just intra school) and, most of all, tailor your application essay to explain why Tulane is the best fit for you: this is the “Why Tulane?” part of it. The fact is that many students with superior stats are denied admission because the student does not make the committee believe that s/he is seeking out Tulane for its specific offerings. Best of luck in the application process, and I do hope you wind up experiencing Tulane and the unique, wonderful culture of New Orleans!
