Hello, I’m currently a community college student in Washington State.
I applied for fall transfer - Computer Engineering & Computer Science at:
- The University of Washington - Seattle
- The University of Washington - Tacoma
- The University of Illinois - Urbana
- Boston University
- The University of Miami
- Northeastern University
- The University of Texas - Austin
- Cornell
- Carnegie Mellon University
- University of Wisconsin - Madison
I currently have a 3.85 (when I finish this quarter) GPA in Computer Engineering. My back story is that I dropped out of high school when I was 15 because I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. When I came back from inpatient treatment, I got my GED and starting working full time. I worked three jobs from ages 15-17 and also learned how to program during this time. I built Tumblr blogs to sell using the Tumblr API and this is how I discovered I wanted to major in Computer Science/Computer Engineering. When I was 17, I moved across the country on my own and enrolled in community college. I also worked during school and started attending hackathons this year. So far, I have won one of them and plan on going to as many as I can go to in the future. I am also a member of The Engineering Club and Developers Club at my school. I have also worked as a Math Tutor at my school for the past year. I just turned 20 years old and will finish this spring with a double major in Computer Engineering/Computer Science.
For my SAT Scores, they’re pretty bad… I submitted them if they were required by the college but otherwise I didn’t. I hope this won’t affect my overall application. I am trying to raise my GPA back up to a 3.9 and get all A’s my last quarter. I have a recommendation letter from my math professor.
I didn’t both retaking my SAT as I was hardly prepared for it and it was past the deadline. I regret this and wish I was prepared for the test…
I already got accepted to The University of Washington - Tacoma but that is my last choice. I am finishing up all of my apps tonight and crossing my fingers.
