Do you think other people realize that Emory is a great school?

No, only 15,549 applied to Emory. I’m certain that this number is final. Every other top school saw increases. Again Emory is struggling in that arena right now. Emory was one of the only top schools to decline in last year’s application round, so this isn’t surprising. Needless to say, Emory may drop below 20 in the next set of rankings. Kind of messed up that the school may drop because of it refuses to recruit as aggressively (and perhaps deceptively) as others. Emory is definitely taking steps to improve the actual quality of the school, but I don’t know if that matters that much. Shallow stats. are clearly of utmost importance.

^Emory can take steps to improve the quality of the school by NOT having an administration full of a-holes.

OK, no sh**. Other schools don’t need to work on that, only Emory does. Obviously someone is bitter.

acceptance rate is only like 1.5 percent of the USNEWS ratings… I doubt Emory will fall below Top 20.

Oh, I was just wondering why some schools have clearly gone recruitment/advertising crazy to boost applications. Is it that serious?

There are many advantages that come with more applications. More awareness… higher perceived (key word: perceived) prestige and popularity … I do agree that Emory needs to step up its marketing campaign. I think after two years of decline (while other school applications have increased) they will make a better effort in the future. I think its important because high school students pay attention to USNEWS and unfortunately, you sometimes have to play the rankings “game”.
