Do you think this course load is too much?

Currently, I am a sophomore in High School. I’m my freshman and sophomore years, I was taking courses that were at an enriched level which is the middle ground between a regular and honors class. I wanted to ask if my planned schedule for my junior year is to hard for me to handle as I have never taken AP classes but I am kind of sure I can handle it:

Algebra 2 Enriched
English 11 Enriched
US History 2 Enriched
AP Physics 1
AP European History
Anatomy & Physiology (Honors)
CAD 2

2 content heavy social sciences (US & Euro) and 2 lab sciences for junior year (when the work gets harder and the grades really really count) looks like a lot to me. Our collegekids did AP USHx + US Euro at the same time- but it was a 2 year course. If you are looking at selective colleges are you covered for a language?

Since your math will be Algebra 2, I would be a little worried about taking AP Physics 1 at the same time.

Why not take Enriched/honors Chemistry now and take Physics next year? WHat is the normal science progression in your school?
Why take 2 histories at the same time?

I agree with the above:
take chemistry honors or enriched next year, Physics senior year, once you’ve completed Algebra2 (Physics assumes that you’ve completed Algebra already).
You should take Foreign Language 3.

I think it’s one class too much, try to dial it down a bit

Where is your foreign language?

My school only requires two years of a foreign language

Where will you be applying? Most colleges recommend/require 3-4 years of FL, where “recommend” is essentially the same as “require”. AP Economics will not make your application stronger than a third year FL.

I didn’t know colleges care so much about the 3rd year of FL. I may want to go to college in my state which is New Jersey or go to college in Canada.

You want to investigate what the colleges you may be interested in want to see, which may or may not be higher than what your high school requires.

Note that colleges may have foreign language graduation requirements; if you complete a higher level in high school, you may need fewer courses in college to complete such requirements.

So for my junior year, my course load is looking to be this:
(Enriched is the middle ground between a regular and honors level course)

Algebra 2 Enriched
English 11 Enriched
US History 2 Enriched
AP Physics 1
AP Euro
CAD 2

I still need one more course and I was planning on filling it with something easy to kind of balance it out. However, I heard AP Economics is very easy and people thought it was one of the easiest AP courses. Do y’ all agree, should I add AP Economics to that, or should I add an easy course?

I strongly suggest you take a 3rd year of foreign language, since stopping after 2 years will severely limit your college options (most selective 4-year universities want 3, top universities expect 4 or AP).

If you apply to Rutgers, they only require 2 years.

But say Princeton requires 4 years.

Look at the type of college you think you will apply to and see what they recommend.

^Even Rutgers means that as a “minimum so that we review your application”, not as “optimal”.

So for my junior year, my course load is looking to be this:
(Enriched is the middle ground between a regular and honors level course)

Algebra 2 Enriched
English 11 Enriched
US History 2 Enriched
AP Physics 1
AP Euro
CAD 2
Marketing 1

Marketing was meant to be the easy course I could fall back on but I was also considering Honors Java. Some people find it difficult, and some find it easy. Any thoughts on Honors Java in High School?

Another quick question. How hard is Algebra 2 concurrent with AP Physics 1. Some say it’s a more difficult and some day it’s practically the same. Any thoughts?

You should take algebra2 before you take AP physics 1… With concurrent enrollment you depend solely on your math teacher’s syllabus.
