Do YOU think you'll get in?

I've seen similar threads on other boards, you post your chances, decision, and why, I'll go first...

Chances: 20%
Decision: Deferred
Reason: I'm afraid my GPA (3.6) is too low

ok..chances: 15%
Decision: Deferred.
Reason: a little bit weak GPA... two spelling mistakes on essay =.=

Chances: 10%ish, i dunno. hard to say.
Decision: deferred
Reason: test scores aren't very strong for cornell, ec's don't really make up for them too much. meh

Oh come on, people, be a little more optimistic :)

I think mine depends on whether or not they can find any one of the TWO copies of transcripts I sent them (after they lost the first one).

Hard to say,
Councellor: 10%
Me: 20%
My Friend: 40%... I HOPE he's right, although I know he isnt.

Decision: Deferred
Reason: Weak IB Diploma SL scores, ECs

see, I really thought I'd get in after my October SAT retake, but refused to say it (because of the chance that I'd be rejected and look like an arrogant jerk who got what she deserved), so your estimates might be slighty low

I prefer to surround myself with people who beleive in me. Every one of my teachers and friends think I will be accepted, so whether I get in or not, at least I have support to ease my anxiety. How does the saying go...ignorance is bliss...sort of.

Same here, neb_nurbel... I'm certainly my harshest critic. I wouldn't say I have such a low chance as 20%... I think it's about fifty-fifty at this point. I can't imagine what the adcom will think... I can certainly hope though. =P

Oh, we can only hope that by some miracle, Cornell has decisions out early this year.

ya i'm thinking 50-50 I could easily see myself admitting me and being like wow what a great kid or being like who the helll does the kid think he is applying to MY school and writing some nasty letter or something

Chances 50%
Decision Defered/Accepted/Rejected (anything goes)
Reason: GPA might be too low or maybe they just hate me.. who knows

I'd say 40/40/20.

Decision: Accepted/Deferred/Rejected, respectively. It can be any of the three, though I don't think I'm going to be flat-out rejected. 4.0 GPA. Top 1%. Great rec's. Good essays. Above-average SAT II's. Average ACT score.

oh yeah, I am praying that they will give decisions early. I really don't think I will get flat out rejected either, but I realllllllly don't want to be deferred; that would be just torture!!!

45/40/15
kinda like gobigred731
Decision: accepted/deferred/rejected, respectively. one of the best private schools in the US, top 20%, double legacy (parents), amazing recs, good essays, well above average SAT I, above average SAT II, work experience in field of interest, college of choice has highest admit rate =D, ED

30%

I'm ok, but nothing makes me stand out. 4.0gpa, 33 ACT, 1400 SAT, 800/770/720 SAT II. I don't think ECs are that great, but I hope the admissions committee will disagree.

mrrubberducky - go away, you clearly have a great shot.

i forgot to say my counselor hates me, so idk how that helps apparently the counselors have lunch with the adcom? yea i openly declared my hatred for the entire CCO the day i found out they hadnt sent my stuff

100% - ACCEPTED!

just kidding. I have no clue. I'll update my post december 15th with a more accurate "prediction"

i hate the college counseling office.. do you guys think we really need college counselors? I mean we research our own school, what exactly do they do for us? esp. when they dotn send our crap in on time...

you're saying that out of frustration

no but i really do feel that they are useless. has anyone got a counselor that provided some sorta advantage to the applicant?

Rachel212 -- good for you! lol I'm glad someone has the guts to be optimistic.
