do you transfer students stay in the same dorms as underclassmen?

Im a transfer in delta terrace and it sucks.

I wish i had an apartment. and most importantly, a couch.

lol at the couch... i really want a kitchen as well. microfridge cooking is rather limited.

i'm going nuts in the dorms. can't wait for an apartment next year!!!

I thought you were living in a single with moldau as your suitemate and having 5-somes, and stuff.

Are the dorms really that bad? I'm torn between staying in an apartment or staying in one of the dorms for the experience. (transfer student by the way)

Think I'm better off looking for an apartment?

no, dorms aren't that bad.
it's just not a place you want to spend 3 years of your life. one is perfectly fine, and a great way to transition to ucla. i'd recommend one year of dorms (unless you think you're already too independent, in which case, you would go nuts not having a kitchen or a car). then you can just do an apartment.

Yeah, I was thinking just for a year too. I would go nuts not having a kitchen for anything longer. Been living independently in an apartment for 3 years already.

But if dorms do help with transitioning to UCLA and making friends, i guess i could live with the price and lost privacy for a year.

for four year students stay in the dorms AT LEAST one year, preferably two. transfers, good idea to do your first year in the dorms (if you're a younger age, like 20-23), but not completely necessary. it will help you get adjusted and a feel for ucla

yes dorms help with transitioning but only if you're active about it. live in a res hall- not like you really have an option though if its your first year entering or first year transfer. leave your door open, get to know people, get involved in floor gov, do social stuff with your floor, etc. if you go to the dorms and leave your door shut and wait for ppl to come to you then you might as well just stay in an apartment
