Do you work?

If so, what kind of job do you have? And how are your hours working for you?

I'm currently looking for a job right now to pay rent and other living expenses during Spring 2011. I had a job my other two years of college making 11/hr with flex hours. It was awesome but I have moved to a different state now.

Nope, gainfully unemployed

I work as a waitress. Only during breaks though and i am thinking about quitting.

I am a waitress. I work 15 - 20 hours. I usually make at least $200 per week. Sometimes close to $300.

I am a tutor. I get paid around $15-20/hour, but I only work about six hours a week.

Computer IT Support - $9.50 an hour and I work five to six hours a week.

I scan papers for 8 hours a week in a library. Not kidding, all I do is scan papers…

In addition I’ve got 6 hours of orchestra a week, so all of this keeps me pretty busy

I take 18 hours and work 20-25 hrs/week as a barista.

None during the year, but I’ll be looking for a lifeguard position soon.

I work ~10 hours a week as a lab assistant, while taking 18 hours of classes

I’m an RA…our job description says we work 20 hours a week, but some weeks it’s more like 2 and some it’s more like 200.

Buuut…it pays for our housing, we get a ton of Dining Dollars, and we get a small stipend each month. Not to mention most of us (myself included) LOVE the job.

SO really, can’t complain.

I’m a Teaching Assistant…I generally work 10-15 hours a week, which is sufficient for books and spending money, but not much else.

I have a job where I work between 6-8 hours a week, and make $105 (it’s a fixed rate, not hourly; I just have to get the work done).
I also tutor, and make $10-$15 an hour (10 for individuals, 15 if it’s a group).

I work as a Cook at Chick-Fil-A but only on breaks though. However, Im bout to quit

I am an intercultural aide (similar to the RA position except more focused on multicultural issues/helping students transition into college from different environments). The time takes up anywhere from 20 to 35 hours a week depending on what meetings I have to attend and if I am planning a program. My salary is getting my room/board covered.

I am also a research aide for a retired sociology professor (about 10 hours a week). I get paid $8/hour. I am helping my professor investigate the role of the media in a democracy, looking through numerous books & articles and summarizing their main points

I like working a lot so it works out for me…this has definitely been my busiest year yet. I’m taking a slightly easier courseload this semester just so I can manage my time most efficiently.
