Question, how many of you actually let your parents read over your essays? My dad expects that i show him my essays and it's really slowing me down with the application process. Not to mention he tries to change things that change the tone and feel of my essays.

mine don’t. its not that they don’t care or anything, I just prefer them not to lol. I just read mine over & over & over again to make sure theres no typos.

No, my parents are not to touch my essays. They are sacred.

… Actually, I’m pretty sure they just don’t like to read. Lol.

My parents make me print out my drafts and show them every few hours or so.
I don’t really have a choice. Once I blocked my door w/ a desk and my dad was like, “Don’t be stupid. What if you pass out in there? How are we gonna know, huh?”
-_-

^^^lol , wow every few hours…

Mudskipper: Do they watch you when you are sleeping as well?

Fortunately and unfortunately, my parents aren’t completely fluent in English, so even if they did want to help me out with my essays, they wouldn’t be able to.

haha no, i **** on my parents soooo much in all of my essays

reverently of course :D

I was completely against my parents reading my essay. Everyone told me it was great and I thought I had the perfect essay. After my dad finally convinced me to let him read it, he basically told me it was horrible. Then I cried and wrote a new essay. After I wrote my new essay I realized how terrible my first essay was.

Sometimes parents do know what they are talking about. The most important thing is to find someone who will be brutally honest. As much as parents don’t want to hurt you, they care about you enough to tell you if your college essay is bad.

I barely want to go to dinner because they keep asking for printouts, ideas, etc… X(
