Hey guys, I'm really conflicted on where I should stay. I'm a freshman in the McCombs Business Honors Program, so I have the option of staying in the Honors Quad, but the Dobie private dorms look so much nicer. Does anyone have any input on which dorms would be best?

I want to meet new people, but still be able to study in my dorms if that's a factor. Cost is not a factor, so if there are any better dorms, please bring em up.

Thanks!

My son turned down Honors housing to live with a friend and live closer to science buildings. His dorm doesn’t seem to be particularly rowdy (although that could be because it is full of engineering and science majors!). There are study rooms scattered throughout the dorm. Honors housing looked nice. Older but bigger in my opinion. I heard from Honors residents in my random sampling of kids that there is some party ing there.

Dobie? Don’t know much about it. One of my kids lived there for a summer camp and loved it. I was concerned that many of the businesses on the bottom floor were not in operation. I think it offers suite type living, so you would have your own living room, bathroom, and maybe (idk) bedroom. Dobie is near the drag, so all the cheap fast food places, but just right next to campus, too, not to mention the Megabus stop. There are other, newer apartment type dwellings that are more expensive.

People like Calloway, but it may be full already. It is pricier. Future frat members like Towers. If you want to meet people and a more homey setting, check out the coop housing.

I remember somehow finding a youtube video that summarized all the UT housing options except for private. Try google?

Updating this post. Dobie is awful, live anywhere else. I really should’ve not been suckered by their false advertising. They lied about a lot of the features. Literally, live anywhere else.
