DOC books

I was wondering if the books are pretty much the same and if I could just buy the 2011 editions for cheaper (students selling them). Therefore avoiding what I hear is 100+ for a new one through the Universal whatever that publishes a new series of textbooks for DOC every year with only a few articles rearranged and additions (gosh it sounds like what publishers do with science textbooks)

Also, are the other books required by DOC classes the same every year?

I asked a similar question not too long ago. This is the reply I got from a helpful poster.

So A Different Mirror is the same. The writer’s reference is different from Fall '10 and Fall '11. Our new reference was used for a different humanities class at UCSD last year though, so you may be able to find a used copy. The girl I’m buying my reader from said that she didn’t use her writer’s reference at all last year, so I’m personally holding off on buying one.

Those are the only three books we need for DOC 1, as far as I know.
