Doc in the making

After graduating from med school and focusing on internal medicine, there is 1 year of internship and how many years of residency?

After residency how is the pay for general internal medicine? I'm not being a doctor for the money I just want to know since I got to pay the bills seeing how much is left behind, etc.

Internal medicine is a three year program -- your "internship" year is your first year of residency.

I can't speak about the pay for general internists; it's not my field.

so it's intern then 2 more years or 3 confused

Three years total -- officially called PGY-1, PGY-2 and PGY-3 years.
The PGY-1 year was formerly called the intern year (and usually is by all except program directors).

Some programs retain two residents for a PGY-4 year to serve as chief residents, though many have PGY-3's serve as chiefs.

thanks
anyone know about the pay though?
