I want to intern with a doctor (dermatologist, cardiologist types), but I'm worried that I'll have to watch something that grosses me out...
I know you're probably thinking "then you shouldn't be a doctor!!"
but I know the career is right, it'll just take time getting used to the icky parts...

the problem is that I don't want to seem like I can't handle it during the internship though

any advice?

Just today a physician told me about a short internship you may do in your 1st or 2nd year of college where you accompany a physician through their day. I can’t recall the name of the program (something like Stripes or so) but I believe it is national. Perhaps you might ask at your local hospital or search on a search engine. This should give you some nice exposure to the real deal.

I always recommend getting signed up as a volunteer at your local hospital. Once on the “inside”, ask around. This career field requires you to do some personality schmoozing.

You can even get letters of recommendation out of it. I dedicated an entire podcast to that subject…
