Doctor vs Dentist

Im at a critical juncture in my life.
I've come to realize that I want to work in a healthcare setting.
I thought for a while now that I wanted to be a doctor, but now I'm seriously considering being a dentist

I've always eschewed dentistry without a thought because my mom is one, but now, I'm taking a serious look at it, and I'm torn.

Since she has her own practice, I would "inherit" it after she retires if I choose dentistry.

Plus I feel that dentists have better lifestyles and yet make about the same amount of money
Also, there's less hassle with insurance comps and no malpractice
Furthermore, the idea of running a business has always appealed to me, and by having my own dental practice I would have a business
Finally, the schooling would be less (no residency)

I thought I had decided to apply to combined med progs, but now I feel it is wiser to go to an ivy league/ comparable institution

I'm only a junior in high school so I have time.

What do y'all suggest?

Also, how hard is it to get into dental school?

200 views and no response? C’mon guys

I’ll give you the proper reply. Others will simply say that don’t care about salary, do what you love, typical CC replies, etc. But a dentist doesn’t start out making that much either (100-130K) because you can’t immediately start a practice. If you seriously love and dream about medicine, go into that, but otherwise dentistry is the better option. Dental school is easier to get into.
