Doctors Making Doctors in Europe

I would suggest that everyone check-out this site www.sourceamerica.net because, as I high school senior, I was about to choose an expensive and not-too-credible option for an international 6 year program. These guys are legit! I guess they're working with the State of Illinois and other big organizations and associations. They're all about education, and not making money. My family met with the director (who's a doctor) and we're all very impressed.

I guess it comes down to if you want to spend 6 years in Bulgaria or not.

I would just go for a 4 year US undergrad at a public university and then a post-grad european med school if you are set on europe. That's another cheap option and it seems to me it would make you a more rounded person.

no matter where you go abroad for medical school you'll still face sizable challenges in returning to the US for residency/practice. On the whole international graduates pass on the first try the USMLE Step 1 at only ~65% clip compared with 93% for US students. Certainly there are some foreign schools that are better than others, but being an IMG is not the way to guarantee that you become a doctor. There are many other problems IMG's face, but Step 1 is the first encountered problem and others stem from there...(ie low USMLE scores and trying to find good residencies among others).

makemyownworld: which foreign medical school are you planning to go to?
