I know that Dodge College’s most competitive major is Film Production, but does anyone know what’s the general feeling about the Television major? How competitive and how strong is it? Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

I applied to Dodge as a Film Production major before the 11/15 deadline. My WebAdvisor still reads “File Complete, Decision Pending.” Anyone else in the same boat?

I thought we were supposed to hear by mid-February. The Chapman/Dodge web site already has info on Admitted Students Day and I haven’t heard a thing! I read on here that someone called and they told them their admission status, but I’ve been told I should just wait. I don’t want to keep bugging them, but I would like to know either way!

Yup, still waiting, same status (decision pending). Although my friend applied, too, and received his rejection letter early last week (on Valentine’s Day, ouch.). It was a long shot for him, though. 3.2 GPA, mediocre SAT, etc. Dodge is just too competitive for stats like that now.

Not that I am an expert or anything but from what I have gathered and seen, if your creativity is high and you promote it throug EC activities your chances improve.

I am applying for 2012 to do Creative Producing, hopefully it’s won’t be as “famous” as Film Production. What were your friends scores, EC etc?

Thanks chimchim. It helps to know I’m not the only one still waiting. Plus, I’d rather be waiting than in the position your friend is in. What a bummer . . . a Valentine’s Day reject letter.

Looks like it’s down-to-the-wire for us, chimchim! Best of luck to you!

Update us on how it goes film, it would be nice to know about what you put on your application - test scores, EC etc.

I am really nervous, I just want to apply and relax but sadly I have to wait a couple months. Good luck!

Warehouse: I was accepted into Creative Producing, and so was fellow CC member KollegeKat. Our stats are in the Class of 2015 Early Action Decisions thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/chapman-university/1071257-class-2015-early-action-decisions.html

Hey, heshing.

Thanks for the heads-up, can I by any chance ask you some questions through PM or IM?

Thanks.

Warehouse: Sure, PM would be fine.

This thread has been relatively quiet. As a Dodge applicant, my status is still File Complete, Decision Pending. Has anyone heard when EA students in Film are finally notified? If we listed a second option, are they now considering that instead of the first? Is that why it is taking soooo long?
Chapman in my #1. I’ve been accepted to Elon, Depaul, Purdue and Columbia…

A lot of people are waiting for their notification of acceptance. I have no idea when you will hear back but check the Chapman blogs and maybe you will see something. If it’s this bad for national applicants it must be a terrible wait for international applicants.

Good luck, emdja. Hope you get in - keep us updated.

My status just changed to Decision Mailed -what a pretty sight! I just hope the next big sight will be a big envelope in the mail before leaving on work tour.
Good luck everyone…it looks like the final decisions are finally coming.

^ God I hope so! I am getting soooooooo impatient :S I really hope the letters will be DHLed to International applicants. If not…I could be waiting another two weeks after my status changes to decision mailed. piece of soul dies at the thought

Good luck, flippy. Please tell me how it goes.

Update on Dodge’s 2011 freshman class stats, per the Dodge admission’s rep:

Number of applicants: 1,142 (for all Dodge majors)
Number admitted: 354 (31%) (Note: that’s not how many will actually enroll…)
Average GPA of admitted: 3.73
Average SAT of admitted: 1970
Anticipated incoming class size by major:
Creative Producing: 25
Digital Arts: 20
Film Production: 70
Film Studies: 10
PR & Advertising: 15
Screenwriting: 35
TV and Broadcast Journalism: 25

Note: Just because Film Production has the most, do not think it is the easiest to get in to. Film Production is such a broad major (editing, cinemaphography, directing, etc.) that it gets the most applicants.
