I’m calling DoDMERB to set up my medical stuff, but I had a question.

My eyes are kind of weird because one eye is near sighted and one eye is farsighted. for this reason, when I use both eyes, one kind of just “ignores” the other depending on the distance of whatever I’m looking at.

The problem comes when I just use one eye [i.e. vision tests]. Then, I see everything fairly well with my right eye, but my left eye I can only see close things clearly.

granted, I am not blind in my left eye. I can make everything out just fine, but when it comes to reading something or pickingout detail, it’s awful.

I should be wearing glasses [i had some a long time ago] but I don’t anymore.

Can anyone give some advice on how they think this will affect my admissions or being pilot qualified [I don’t know how bad numerically my vision is, but I think it’s possible I am not pilot qualified. Still, I can get in the academy, right? I’ve seen cadets at basic wearing “birth control glasses”. ]

Final question: I know laser eye surgery can be a disqualification for being admitted. However, I heard from an ALO that once you are IN the academy, they will approve a certain kind of surgery. If you were not pilot qualified before, can you become pilot qualified after this surgery or does this count as “corrected vision” even though you require no contacts/glasses? Thanks.
