I have a question about the possible disqualifications from DODMERB. I have a slight musculo-skeletal abnormaility. My left pectoral girdle is out of position a little bit. I’ve been to a chiropractor to see what he thought of it and he said there was nothing that he could do about it. I also had my doctor look at it (I made sure he didn’t diagnose anything due to the availability of medical records to the review board) and he said that the anatomical head of my humerous has slipped out of the glendoid fossa (socket) a little bit.

It’s never kept me from doing anything such as any physical activity or sports (i’m a competitive diver, it’s never bothered me for that) and it’s never been painful. There’s just a little bit of a decrease in the range of motion when I circumduct my left arm. It’s only out of angle when my arm is behind me (if that makes any sense). Even when my arms are at my side, it is visible that my shoulder’s aren’t semetrical (One clavacle is definitely more pronounced than the other, but you usually have to be looking specifically for it).

I’m wondering if it’s something that would cause a problem later down the road with getting accepted or if I should look into getting it fixed surgically. If I go the surgical path, i’m figuring that I’ll need lots of paperwork verifying that i’m normal.

Has anyone had any experience with this or have any information that would help me?

Okay go to United States of America Service Academy Forums - Powered by vBulletin look under the Dodmerb section and ask retnavyhm. He knows a lot of the dq's and you have a better chance of getting a better answer.

Remember when you go for your physical unless you are military, you will go to a DODMERB doctor, thus they will find it, not suggesting military won't. because they will also. These physicals are from head to toe, and everywhere in between. If you can physically see it then the doc will also. Don't freak, because it might be something that they will just immediately give a waiver to, but then again they might not.

It's best to try over at servicecademyforums.com to see what his opinion is, that's all it is an opinion, but at least you will be able to address it more clearly from there

Good luck!
