I’m a freshman, and I was an A student last semester and in middle school, but right now it seems I’m very likely to end up with a B in one of my classes.
Long story short, I can’t talk in Spanish (although I can write it at an appropriate level) and that’s really hurting my grade. And I have slow reflexes, which also affects my Spanish grade…yeah
I’m disappointed that it looks like I won’t have a 4.0 GPA, but does it actually matter? I’m not really considering Ivies or similar colleges, the only prestigious ones that even interest me right now are “nerd schools” like MIT, but I’m not going to get my hopes up for getting in and I’m not sure they would be a good match anyway. UC schools are about as prestigious as I’m seriously considering.
I know that the UC weighting system doesn’t include freshman year, but does it still have any relevance?
insert apologies for the whole “freshman being obsessive” here
I was in the same position as you freshman year. Tbh life goes on, but I was pretty depressed for pretty much the entire month of December that year.
In short, how much a B matters depends on who you’re asking.
Nah, your life is pretty much over. >.>
People need to stop asking this…
It’s a legitimate concern
I’m in the same boat right now except it was in first semester and I had a bunch of A- which dropped me from a 4.0. I freaked out about that and I still kind of am but I’ve realized that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter as much as you think it would. If you do end up getting a B, don’t stress out about it because its likely that colleges (especially the “higher up” ones) tend to focus on 10-12 grades more than freshman year. You just have to make sure that you keep straight As after freshman year so that your transcript shows an upward trend. Hope this helped!
No one, including the colleges, care, so it won’t mean anything. Just don’t fail next year
no it doesnt matter - C’s are bad though so dont get C’s. i’ve gotten plenty of B’s in my life and yet here i am. honestly i dont know why people freak out that much. i did when i was a freshman and got a B in Bio Pre-AP, but life goes on. at most colleges, you’re not even required to have a perfect GPA. so good luck!! you’ll probably end up being that kid who goes to yale or harvard or something.
