I have a 3.7 GPA, and I was wondering If I get a c, will it ruin my transcript and ruin my chances of getting into u of m? I am an A - B+ student and this c is in a honors class, there is huge likelyhood that there will be a B, but does one c ruin your chances of getting into U of M?
No. But the average GPA is 3.85, so the Bs and Cs won’t help.
No one grade will ruin your chances, but see comment above.
Acceptance into the university depends on a number of factors, including residency. Like others have said, one C won’t ruin your application, but a substantial number of A-/B+ grades instead of A grades will hurt your application.
Of course, Michigan looks at things other than grades as well, so you would want to stress other activities in your application.
Michigan re-rates grades with A=4 B=3 C=2 etc. So your 3.7 could be higher or lower depending on whether you receive a lot of B+ or A- grades. You’d be better off getting the 3.7 with all A- grades and a C or 2 than a lot of B+ grades and a few A’s/
3.7gpa is not very competitive at UMich. Would consider it a serious long shot.
