Just wondering if schools send out all their decision letters on the same day. Six kids from my school applied ED. I received my acceptance letter yesterday, but no one else has received their letter yet. Do you think that’s a bad sign, or not necessarily?

First off, congrats on your acceptance! I think that schools try to send letters on the same day, but it doesn't always work out.

Thanks Ohio-mom-

I heard that some schools send acceptances out first and then deferrals and rejections. I hope that's not true, I really feel badly celebrating while my friends are stressing.

It's hard to tell what's going on until it plays out. Case had a flood of EA applications - the kids were supposed to hear on January 15th... my son didn't hear until the 28th, and one of his classmates didn't hear until last week. Case is the classmate's first-choice school - and tuition waiver since Mom works there - and she was really on pins and needles.

I know that you feel badly for your friends, but life is full of sorrow and joy mixed. A desired acceptance is a great accomplishment, and you should enjoy it to the fullest (being sensitive to your friends, of course).

Your mail might run on different cycles too. For example, where I live some people get their report cards one day and then the others get it the next day just due to how the post office distributes the mail.

Is it true that acceptances go out priority mail (2 day) and everything else is mailed regular mail. I did get my letter on the second day after mailing, or is this just another "admission letter legend."

congrats gdgrules
where did u get accepted to???
i think collegees send out acceptance letters first but they send them first class vs. the defferals which are sent by regular mail

Thanks Hannanaq- I was accepted to the University of Richmond.

Lots of kids applied from my school both ED2 and RD. UR is a very small school, I know they can't take too many kids from one HS. I heard about sending acceptances out priority mail, I guess you heard that too. Waiting really, really sucks, I feel terrible for the other kids, Feb.15th seems a long time away.

Any other experiences with letters being mailed out on different days?
