<p>I don’t think so.</p>
<p>Typically legacy status only counts if your parents attended the college in question. In some cases, your siblings can also give you legacy status, but I’ve never heard of a college giving legacy status for a cousin who is an alum.
That being said I’m not even sure if the University of Michigan recognizes legacy status -assuming you mean the public school. </p>
<p>They do ask this question in the supplement on CommonApp. Also, it said on CDS that they do consider alumni relation.
