<p>I think the reason is that as a whole group, the group of people who average high 1400s have stronger applications than the group that averages 1350.</p>

<p>or else I would have never got into George Washington. I am very involved and got a 1420, but by GPA would be iffy to many state schools and I made it into the top 50% of my pubilc (but good public) high school by <.15 gpa points.</p>
