does coffee itself wake you up or is it the sugar in the coffee?

caffeine in the coffee does, sugar not as much

tanen in tea (I think)

ok.. I am pretty sure red bull helps.. but...it takes a little to have effect.. so drink it in the very morning (like 6 or 7)..

6 or 7 in the morning? thats a little early, don't you think? but i dunno.

i tried one about 15 mins before taking a practice test, and it didn't do anything throughout the test. do you think i should drink it earlier or have more?

On the day of the test...DS gets up two hours before the test, reads the paper, eats two bowls of cereal and about six pieces of bacon, and drinks then a can of Jolt during the test (or just before if the proctors don't let you bring stuff in).

The night before: no test prep, just video games, IM chats and a good night's sleep.

From what I've heard, undiluted condensed milk helps too. Whatever works for you :)

TIME or Newsweek, I forget which, did an article on a study about the effects of caffiene about a year ago. It said that a reasonable amount of caffiene does indeed increase brain activity and help you concentrate and focus better.

I personally like tea in the morning to start off the day. Not too much caffeine, but enough so that you think that it's making you stay awake. My favorites are the spring cherry and honey ginseng green teas.

I was initially gonna take a red bull on the saturday but now I am not sure.. 'cause it makes kind of slowly sometimes.. I mean I don't know but I am pretty sure I drank too many on only few days----- the long term consequences I believe.. anyways.. I am eating chocolate and a cereal bar, and drinking coke.. that's it!..

kids I know the stress is unbearable but be smart.

You want a steady blood sugar level. The brain is a blood hog. If you raise your blood sugar level too much, too fast, ie the donut for breakfast, the choc filled caffeine drink- you will CRASH.

Blood sugar crash---insulin floods your body to try to get the excess blood into the cells of your body--RESULTING IN GREAT FATIGUE...

The Smart kids will eat a balanced breakfast, with protein, fats and carbs ...

It's a marathon- the new SAT is long and brutal. Take a snack- protein bar makes sense, and water.
