Does a W and P/NP look bad?

I took a W for one of my classes and did a pass/no pass. Will this affect my chance to get into UCLA or USC?? I read on the USC websrite that a P/NP MAY affect my admission but will it affect it a lot even if I have a high GPA?? The P/NP and W classes are just GE, history and intro to linguistics. Neither are required for my major.

Too late to know. Just apply and time will tell.

I had 4 W's in one semester. I had some things to deal with. I transferred into some top 25s from a CC.

I had a W b.c I took too many hard classes at once last semester and bout 2 weeks after the drop deadline I withdrew from Calc b.c I knew I'd get no better than a B and I had a 3.4 for the year and got into USC.

i got a W for a business computer class, but i applied as a science major for a top 25 and got in. i don't know how ucla or usc views w's, but i think if the class has nothing to do with your intended major, it's not a big deal

Even in your major I doubt it hurts much. I applied for Marshall first choice, undecided as a second. B.c I withdrew Calc I knew I couldn't get into MArhsall as it's a class I need to be in that school. So I got in for undecided, but they must know I'll try and switch into that major later on. I guess b.c I'll be a sophomore I can take Calc this year. I think it matters more if your going to be going into junior, and it is a class you need.
