Does a WP (Withdraw Pass) look bad on my high school transcript?

This is my first time withdrawing from a class. This semester, I decided to take 3 APs and 1 honors class. I excell in 3 of the classes, but I am doing poorly in 1 of the AP’s, AP World. It is causing me a lot of stress and I just don’t have enough time to devote to it because of after school activities. Is it better to finish AP World with a B or just drop the course and replace it with an easier course?

A B is not a bad grade and better, IMO, than a WP.

If AO’s analyze in depth, and I don’t know that they will, they may wonder if it’s covering a D. Or they may wonder if it’s covering an applicant solely obsessed with GPA.

A B? You are withdrawing because of a B?

In my opinion….finish the course. It’s February…and the course isn’t going to end for a while…just hold that B maybe it will improve.

Regardless. You need to understand…a B is not a bad grade.it just isn’t.

If doing the work is causing stress and detracting from EC’s I would do the WP. But a B is fine on your transcript so if the grade is stressing you rather than the workload, stay in the class.

We can’t really tell from your post what the source of stress is: the workload, the impact on EC’s, or the grade. My response depends on the source of stress. No matter what course of action you take, I think you will be fine.

Consider you mental health first.

Assuming no issue, get a B.

If not, a WP is not end of world.

No, it’s is NOT better to replace an AP class with an easier class when you are getting a B in that AP class.

Grades are generally more important than ECs. Depending on the EC, maybe you need to carve out a little more time to devote to your AP class. If your ECs keep you sane, then figure out a way to create a little more time somewhere else. For instance, maybe less screen time, or take a shower instead of a bubble bath.

I’m guessing you just need to find an extra hour a week and you could much improve the grade. Go see the teacher for extra help if it’s the content that’s causing you trouble.

You should withdraw from a class that you are incapable of doing well and completing the work. A B is solid.

You kids are putting way too much pressure on yourself. No one is perfect in life - and Bs and even Cs are acceptable.

There will be many a college out there that will want you.

Good luck.

What if my counselor makes a note under it? Maybe it would say that I got a B in the class and wanted more time to devote to other things?

You don’t need to explain a B. It’s self-explanatory.

What ?

You got a B. Most get many.

There is no one who will justify it nor a need for it to be justified.

Work hard, do the best you can, and move on.

No. Do not even think of trying to explain a B. No explanation is needed and anything you say will end up sounding like a flimsy excuse, which is worse.

Move on and continue to do your best.
