Does accepting at one UC reduce or eliminate chance to get off WL at another UC?

S22 was accepted at UCSD and WL at UCLA & Cal. If he accepts at UCSD, does that in any way affect WL decisions at the other UCs? Do the UCs collude or share this data among themselves? Any anecdotes or data to support either position?

Accepting one UC does not affect any of the waitlists at the other schools. UC campuses are separate entities and make decisions independently of each other.

Quote from the UC website and this pertains to waitlisted students and appeals also. UCB and UCLA also have waitlist essays which are evaluated along with a re-review of the original application.

Do campuses make their admissions decisions independently from other UC campuses?

Each UC campus evaluates each application without knowing the status of the same application at another campus. In making admission decisions, campuses do not consider where you’ve applied or your admission status to other campuses. All campuses consider your application simultaneously, yet independently of all other campuses you applied to.
