Are there other premed honor societies out there?

It’s worth joining, more for your resume, and I’m almost 100% positive that this is the only pre-medical honor society. All pre-meds should join AED.

Clubs are generally worthless for med school admissions.

Many to an extent they are, but AED is medical related and is a plus when applying to med schools. Of course it will not make up for what someone might lack in their GPA or MCAT, but it can be that breaking point for equal applicants.

Not really. When I mean they’re worthless, I say they’re worthless. As in, not worth one of your 15 EC slots on the AMCAS.

What exactly do these clubs do? Get together 1 or 2 speakers a semester. Maybe hold a couple of general body meetings. Maybe do a 3 hour community service project.

Your time is better served by doing consistent, weekly community service instead of isolated events via these so-called premed societies.

^^ I would listen to what norcalguy says ;)

If you want to go to hear the speakers, go because you want to hear the speakers - not because you think it will impress adcoms. It won’t
