Does alternate major matter when applying?

After looking over my application and admittance rates, I’m just wondering if I basically lost any chance at UCLA by applying for engineering when my stats aren’t super high and if I have any chance being accepted to L&S.

UCLA does not admit applicants to an alternate major. You’ll either get into engineering or not at all.

Is it possible to request a change to my first major since my alternate major doesn’t matter? I’m starting to have second thoughts on my chances at being accepted into Engineering…

I believe that the deadline to change majors on your application has passed. You will need to follow the change of major procedure once you are accepted.

Actually, the deadline to change your major for UCLA is January 31st. Login to your portal and click “Contact Us” and there should be an option to change your major. Make sure you do so soon because January 31st is coming quickly!
