As I REALLY bombed the SAT Math 2 C, I have considered to retake it my sr year GASP. Does having an 89 really give you a superior advantage for SAT Math 2 C? IF so how come, compared to the 83 +. Thanks!

Dude, the calculator is pretty much useless on the Math 2c. I basically used the calculator 3 times the entire time. Don't waste money on a newer model.

dude....( or duddette ) I took my maths 2c in january with a simple casio sceintific calculator . Gotta 770 . It really isnt neccessary.

While most of the math on the SAT I can be done without a calculator, the Math IIC is actually intended to be taken with a calculutor, hence the "C" on the end of the name (There actually used to be seperate Math I and Math IC tests). To the OP, the 89 will be useful because of its Computer Algebra System, which can factor and expand expressions, solve equations and calculate integrals and derivitives. That said, lots of people have (and you can) do well on the IIC without a 89. I would only recommend buying the 89 if you will have a future use for it (other than the IIC). Are you going to taking Calculus this year? If so, then the 89 is definately an asset because it can solve many calculus problems - it's very useful for the AP exam and you should consider buying it. If you're not going to be taking calculus or don't really want to spend the money, then I would recommend you spend a fraction of the price on good review books and practice tests and get lots of practice on sample tests using your 83+ (and when you do take practice tests, go back and check every single question when you're done, making sure you know why you got it correct or incorrect)

maybe you guys who have been studying maths in the american high school system do require a graphics calculator . In alevel we are taught to solve calculus and other complicated **** without it.

im taking calculus AB <--- yea i know so I dunno how much of an advantage I would get. Should I buy one?

i found the 89 to be very helpful x__X

83+ easily got me my 800

yeah, an 83+ is really all you need. however, it's not a bad idea to get it for other purposes.

would not knowing how to use a graphics calculator be a huge disadvantage in Math 2c? I know some questions would be easier wtih a graphics calculator but i'm not too familiar wtih using one... I've used a scientific calc all my life altho i'm taking calculus rite now...

what would you advise me to do? should i take the trouble to learn how to use a graphics calc? i'm taking SAT 2c this november..that should be enough time for me to learn but my schedule's pretty tight one school starts... i dont know if i'll even have time to prep for it..

please help. thank you.

.......................bump................

You should definitely use a graphing calc if you can. As for figuring out your calculator, it only took me 30 mins.
