some schools require applicants to have a campus tour/interview. i'm just wondering what happens if some applicants don't visit the school campus. are their chances lowered just because of that? what if they really can't go? (like international applicants).

Some people would say your chances are lowered, and others would say it doesn’t matter. No one can really know for sure unless they worked in an admission office.

My personal opinion is that your chances won’t be lowered but they also wouldn’t be boosted. It could definitely help to have talked with and shaken hands with someone in the admissions office so they know who you are and can say positive things when your application is being discussed.

if you live far away and can’t go on campus, i’m think it’s fine. it definitely won’t BOOST your application, but if you need FA and such, i doubt it would be too detrimental.

however, if you live like under 100 miles away and can’t go, that’s could be a little strange

As far as I know, you DO have to interview [or it’s at least something I would strongly advise against skipping]. Videochat and alumni interviews are always available, and admissions officers often travel. Tours are optional.
