Does an interview invite boost your chances of getting into Stanford?

I was under the impression that those who are invited for an interview are chosen randomly based on location and availability. However, the website in the link below says that those who got an invite have a 48% chance of getting in. I personally think that that is completely false. What do you guys think?

An interview will not boost your chances. The article posted refers to grad school.

Per our Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, Stanford interviews can–but don’t always–have a slight effect on your app, but it is not anywhere near as important as it is in job interviews or graduate/professional school interviews.
