Does an SAT prep course look bad on the transcript?

I just found out that S's school offers an "SAT prep" course during the day as an elective. He could take it fall of senior year. Does that look bad to colleges? I think it's mainly time to work on college essays.

I don’t know. All the SAT Prep courses I’ve ever heard of have been EC. Our school doesn’t offer this. They do work on the essays in English, though.

I think the essay work is a key component of the class, but they don’t want to call it “Time in the day for working on your college essay.” :)

I would think it would depend on the level of college. If it’s a top college I think they would not like the fact that a kid chose to do something he could easily do outside of school instead of a rigorous academic class. At less selective schools I don’t think it would be a problem.
