Does any one actually know someone who was rescinded?

One C shouldn't kill you at all.

^

Unless it's in PE or Photography or something.

I'm just kidding.

I'm a bit paranoid about my grades this year. I got accepted to the University of Florida with a 3.8 weighted; my grades the first semester (we only have 2 semesters a year) were a 3.0, which brought me down to a 3.7 (I got a D in spanish).

This isn't as huge a drop as it seems because my grades weren't all that great junior year either (the move from pre-IB to IB resulted in some lower grades). Naturally I'm pretty worried about the possibility of getting my application rescinded, anyone know what the possible consequences of this drop would be? (I am working on getting higher grades this last semester to show that I'm not totally slipping)

This drop wasn't even due to senioritis or anything, I've been working at about the same level I always have. Senior year IB is a beast, unfortunately.

Edit: I got put in Summer B session instead of Fall (which I wanted), I don't know if that makes any difference.

would some schools rescind admission because of THEIR mistake? like if they overlooked a fact in the applicant's transcript (that they got Ds in their Junior year) and accepted, but then realized their mistake, as seemed to have happened to a few examples I've seen somewhere, wouldn't it be unfair if that college rescinds the application?

can an applicant appeal a rescinded decision?

You can try, but I bet fail. Schools rarely take back admissions and when they do, I bet it was for a really good reason. =/

One of my mom's friend's daughter was accepted to Yale but was recinded. When she got her acceptance letter, she got exited and decided to celebrate by hosting a party. What she didn't realize doing wrong was that she let her underaged friends dring alcalhol beverages. Her neighbor at the time of the party was distracted by the presence of the party and called the cops and caused the girl to be charged with giving alcalhol to minors. When Yale found out about that, they reciended her admission and she has no where else to go now.

A boy I know was rescinded. It happened in late July, as he was preparing to head off for the year. His final semester grades went down (too much playing after he got accepted.) He ended up at a community college.

if i stop doing work altogether i would probalby still get A-s....not As but still lowest probably a B....so how do people get rescinded?! how much are they working to maintain their average during junior year? colleges, i think, try to note how hard people work and if they look like they're working too hard then the college doesn't really want him/her...and sr year grades seem like a good indicator of this...

^How do the grades indicate that the student is working too hard, though?

cuz if you stop working, period, you shouldn't plummet too much..unless you were working hard to maintain them in the first place

With all these stories about kids getting rescinded in this thread, I bet there's at least 50 people who don't get rescinded for one who does get rescinded.

50? i would think more

Do these include college grades? For instance, if you maintain about the same grades you have (maybe 1 extra B) in your high school courses, but end up with a C in a college course, will that get you rescinded? (just in your opinion)

Peach Chardonnay, I read about a post here about a student who was rescinded at the beginning at the summer because they overlooked the fact that she did not meet their reqs (she didn't take lab for chem).

I don't know if this is the case for all colleges, though.

that's REALLY unfair, because now she can't apply to other colleges and is probably stuck with going to community college.

she can hire a lawyer or something, like people have done to try to get the college to re-accept them

It is a debatable issue. Colleges are responsible for informing their students of proper admission before enrollment deadlines of other colleges.

Should I worry if I have maintained a 3.5-3.6 ish GPA thorughout my high school career but now I'm expecting a 3.0(2.8 at the lowest)? I haven't even gotten in any colleges yet. It'll be mostly B's and maybe 1 C I think...

^^
What colleges did you apply to?

Would colleges rescind you if you get caught drinking by the cops? Because in senior year once I know what college I am going to I plan on partying a lot. Thanks!
