Does any one know , of all the applicants how many were accepted, deferred or Rejected?

[MIT Early Action Decisions Now Available Online | MIT Admissions](MIT Early Action Decisions Now Available Online | MIT Admissions)

680 accepted = 11.3%
3731 deferred = 62.1%
1308 = 21.8%
Rest were withdrawn or incomplete.

my goodness, I’ve never heard of a school deferring that percentage of applicants ^^ RD is going to be very competitive this year.

Oops, that 1308 is supposed to say “not admitted” next to it.

I believe they actually deferred like a percentage point less than last year. (Same with the number of admits)

They may have also “not admitted” more people than last year percentage wise, but I can’t tell because they don’t specifically list that on their statistics page (I’m not sure how many were withdrawn/incomplete last year).

wow so many deferrs!!

These are actually very typical numbers for MIT EA – not unusual in the least.

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for athletic recruits who apply EA?

^Those statistics aren’t typically released separately. Last year, overall (for both EA and RD), about 30% of art/music/athletic “stars” were admitted.

Slight correction, mollie. About 30% of last years class were composed of art / music / athletic stars, not a 30% admit rate for them.

Oh, my misunderstanding.

EDIT: I think we have both confused ourselves.
From [this thread](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/882019-statistics-mit-2014-admissions-cycle.html) last year.

Yep, you’re right. D’oh!
