Does any student have a private counselor in BS?

Hello,
I just came across a question if some students at BS actually work with a private college counselors in addition to their school college counselors. I am assuming that the boarding school students should and are encouraged be diligent and motivated enough to work by themselves. In that context, I heard that the role of school counselors in BS in college application process seems to be quite minimal.
Considering the fact that the high percentage of the public school students gets the luxury of having private tutors and counselors, on top of their parent's on going support, I get to wonder if getting one for my D would be helpful to find the best fit college for her.
Please give me some comments and thoughts. Thanks

From what I have seen, the BS are very “hands on” with regard to the college counseling process. I suppose there will always be individuals dissatisfied with their school’s efforts, but this is a big area of focus for the BS. The one’s we’ve considered for our kids appear to have a very close working relationship with the college admissions officers.

Some BSs don’t really get college focused until jr year, when the student’s stories are largely written. I know BS students who have benefited from private support particularly in sophomore year and jr. years.
