It seems the main focus of the forum is on American prep schools. But if any of you know any information at all about Canadian prep schools could you please provide me some information about what you know? in terms of:

-Most distinguished alumni
-Best matriculation stats
-Best Athletics program
-Prestige

I don’t know too much about Canadian boarding schools, but Ridley seems to be one of the most prestigious ones. I live close to St. George’s (BC) and it is extremely competitive to get in and very highly regarded around here. I’ve also heard good things about Shawnigan Lake School.

Did you ever find out much? We are looking at Brentwood, Shawnigan Lake and St. Michaels. We have visited the first two. I’m not sure how they compare to US schools.

Check out St.Georges in Vancouver, its the second best boarding highschool in Canada after Upper Canadian Collage, I am go there too. We are excellent at rugby and basketball.
Lots of our grads go to Ivy Leagues. and the chance of getting into like the top canadian university is exteremly high even if u just do ok in or school

I have a daughter, so St. Georges is out. She is accepted at Brentwood and Shawnigan and will probably get into St. Michaels. Any idea how they rate?

Upper Canada College (UCC), Toronto

Lower Canada College (LCC), Montreal

Ashbury College, Ottawa - New boys and fairly new girls dorms

University of Toronto Schools, Toronto

What did you all end up doing? Did you go to a canadian school? I’m American, Shawnigan and Brentwood look great. I just really want to apply somewhere other than your typical boarding school, like ones up east. Would it be worth going to those schools if they are far away from me? How is the academic experience compared with top US boarding schools?

PS, it’s UCC (Upper Canada College) hands down. The only school that competes is University of Toronto Schools (a day school), and it competes purely on academics (not sports, etc).
This thread is over 5 years old, and original poster has not been active in over 4. The child in question is probably now in college, so I don’t think OP’s still looking for advice. Use old threads for research only and do not unnecessarily resurrect. Closing.
